Piaggio & C. Spa which is the parent of Piaggio and Vespa motorcycle brand is planning to make a special motor for the ASEAN countries. This is an effort to reach out again with the countries that had long they leave.
Although Piaggio and Vespa motor assembly scattered in various countries, the design still made in Italy. Design and engineering division of Piaggio is studying the need for ASEAN countries to adapt to a society with ASEAN, Piaggio and Vespa want to meet all the needs of consumers here.
Currently, Piaggio has a motor assembly plant in Vietnam which serve as a production base of Piaggio and Vespa motor ASEAN region. ASEAN Free Trade Agreement or AFTA (Asean Free Trade Agreement) also helped push prices Piaggio and Vespa motorcycles are sold in ASEAN countries.
